The Pierre Elks Lodge, #1953 will host its annual Hoop shoot starting at 5:00 on Sunday, December 7 at the St. Joseph’s school gym. The contest is free and open to boys and girls ages 8-13.
Each participant will take 25 free throws, and the top scorer in each division will advance to the state hoop shoot in Pierre on February 7. Registration will begin at 4:30 and the hoop shoot will begin at 5:00 for the 8-9 year old boys and girls. At 5:45 it will be the 10-11 year old girls and boys and then at 6:45 it will be the 12-13 year old girls and boys to conclude the event. Shooters can register up to five minutes before their age group. The age group is based on the child’s age as of April 1, 2026.
The Hoop Shoot is an annual, signature kids program sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, which is a national fraternal organization over 150 years old. For more information about the Hoop Shoot, please visit elks.org.
