FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — A second continuance has been granted for a Pierre woman charged with Grand Theft in Stanley County. During a very short status hearing Katie Thompson, attorney for 45 year-old Dusti Deal requested more time as Deal and the Stanley County State’s’ Attorney’s office work out moving the case forward. As a result of the second extension in the case, Deal waived her right to a speedy trial within 180 days of the charges coming forward. Sixth Circuit Judge Bridget Mayer said in court regardless of what the two sides in the case agree on, she wants to push the case into 2026 to avoid the upcoming holiday season. A third status hearing has been set for mid-January. Deal has pleaded not guilty to a single charge of Grand Theft. Court documents on file in Stanley County allege Deal used a business credit card belonging to the Community and Youth Involved Center in Fort Pierre on several unauthorized purchases totaling nearly 45-thousand dollars. Deal is accused of using the card between January of 2022 and December of last year.
