PIERRE, (KCCR) — A trial date has been set for a Rock Valley, Iowa man facing drug charges connected to a fatal vehicle/pedestrian crash in September in central Hughes County. Since his last court appearance in October, 27 year-old Taylor Reece Hanson has since posted bond and was in street clothes sitting next to his attorney David Siebrasse of Pierre. Sixth Circuit Judge Christina Klinger tentatively set the three-day trial for February 18th to the 20th. A pretrial hearing is set for January. Siebrasse told Klinger Hanson operates in Iowa as a DoorDash driver and that his client occasionally makes delivery to South Sioux City, Nebraska and asked that his bond conditions allow him to travel to Nebraska for deliveries. Klinger encouraged Siebrasse to file such a motion to change the bond in case Hanson were to get pulled over in Nebraska and that Hanson needs to make any deliveries and immediately return to Iowa. Hanson has been charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. The drug charges came about from the investigation of a crash 21 miles east of Pierre that killed 23 year-old Elvera DrivingHawk of Kennebec, who was walking along South Dakota Highway 34 at the time.
