For the second time in three years the Pierre Governors will meet the Yankton Bucks in the 11AA State championship as the Govs are trying for its eighth title in the last nine years.
Pierre’s streak of consecutive titles came to an end last November in a 14-13 loss to the Watertown Arrows, but the Govs are already reloaded for another title this year with just the Bucks standing in their way. The two teams met back at the end of September with the Bucks getting a last second touchdown to win 35-28 after Pierre rallied from down 21-0, the first of two times they’ve done that this year and are 1-1 in the those games. But the game was back in September, both teams are different, but by necessity the Governors are much different and have really taken to form since Week 7 when they shutout Sturgis 44-0. Just like last week, Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors says this team is excited to get an opportunity to avenge a loss…
Steele says they’re still as challenging of an opponent as they were back in September…
Both coaches say big plays can be a key tonight…
Brady Muth, the head coach of the Yankton Bucks echoes the statement…
Coverage tonight from the DakotaDome in Vermillion will begin at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
