The Pierre Governors would fall in a sweep to the Jefferson Cavaliers at home on Tuesday night as the Govs season ends at 3-17 shy of the SoDak 16 with a 25-15, 25-17 and 25-17 loss.
Sienna Sabers was on all night for the Cavaliers with a 20 kill evening starting with nine in the first set. She eclipsed 300 for the season early on in set two and would pace Jefferson through each set. Natalie Welty would finish with eight kills and AJ Venekamp would serve a run including three aces to create separation early in the second set as the Cavs had nine aces overall on the night and improved to 10-12 on the season with a matchup against Aberdeen Central to close out the regular season on Thursday. For the Governors, Ally Keyes, Sloane Waldron and Marena Buschbom would lead the Govs each with four kills while Molly Olson, Waldron, Hadley Hart and Alexis Schlekeway would all have an ace.
The Governors will graduate Hart, Waldron, Schlekeway, Lola Kienholz, Drew Rechtenbaugh and Paige Sporrer as their high school volleyball careers come to an end.
