PIERRE, (KCCR) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says a Cyber tip has led to rape solicitation and child pornography charges against a former State Driver License employee in Aberdeen. The charges against 66-year old Mark Rathbun carry sentences totaling 37 years in prison if he’s convicted…
Solicitation of Second-Degree Rape alone carries a 25 year maximum sentence. Rathbun has also been charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Unlawful Use of a Computer System. The offenses are alleged to have taken place over a six-year period that ended last Thursday with Rathbun’s arrest. Rathbun is also accused of sharing drivers license photos and private information with third parties. Jackley expects more charges against more suspects, involving more victims in several counties.
