The Pierre Governors had just two full drives in the first half but were still able to beat the Tea Area Titans 41-7 Thursday night in Pierre in the first round of the 11AA playoffs.
The Tea Titans had a near nine minute first quarter drive to open the game, but the Govs were able to force a turnover on downs. Cooper Terwilliger would catch a 48 yard touchdown pass on Pierreās first drive to lead 7-0 and after forcing a punt, the Govs grabbed another touchdown, this one from Ayden Behm from 18 yards out to go up 14-0 at the break. The Govs third drive stalled out because the half ended. Carter Schiefelbein had two touchdown catches as he eclipsed the 100 yard receiving mark in the game and over 1000 yards for the season on the night. Jerren Deal had four touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown as he went for over 300 yards passing and the Govs had just two non-scoring drives with one punt in the game. Sutton Sonnenschein had an interception in the win for the Govs as the defense allowed just one scoring drive in the game.
