The Pierre Governor volleyball team would be unable to get the win on senior night against the Brookings Bobcats in a 25-10, 25-23 and 25-12 loss on Tuesday in Pierre.
The Governors battled hard in the second set consistently getting within one before the Bobcats would make another short run. Pierre had the match tied at 23-23 but the Bobcats scored the final two points and controlled sets one and three to get the win improving to 11-19 on the season while the Governors drop to 3-16. The Bobcats were led by senior Macy Even who had 16 kills with six in the first, and five in sets two and three. Mia Mahlke also had 10 kills for the Bobcats as they combined for 26 of the 39 kills in total for Brookings. Pierre had just 14 overall with Addison Novotny leading the way with four while Merena Buschbom, Alyssa Loe and Ally Keyes each having three. Sloane Waldron had two.
Pierre will finish out the regular season on Tuesday next week facing the Jefferson Cavaliers. Coverage will begin at 6:00 with first serve at 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
