PIERRE, (KCCR) — A continuance has been granted in the Grand Theft by Embezzlement case against a Pierre woman in Stanley County. Sixth Circuit Court Judge Bridget Mayer granted the extra time in the case requested by the attorney for 45 year-old Dusty Ann Deal. Defense attorney Katie Thompson told Mayer she was still looking over the large amount of evidence the state has presented through a discovery motion granted early in the case against Deal. Deputy Stanley County State’s Attorney Anna Maher had no objection to Thompson’s request for a delay. Deal is accused raking up 45-thousand dollars in unauthorized personal purchases on a business credit card Deal had access to belonging to the Community and Youth Involved Center in Fort Pierre. In court document, Deal admitted to the purchases in a May interview with the Department of Criminal Investigation. She pleaded not guilty during an arraignment hearing in late August. A follow-up hearing in the case is scheduled for mid-November.
