PIERRE, (KCCR) — Annual fall public meetings of the U-S Army Corps of Engineers for the Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir System will not be held this year due the ongoing lapse in federal funding from the continuing federal government shutdown. The meetings were tentatively planned for Monday October 27th, Monday November 3rd and Tuesday November 4th. A meeting on November 4th was scheduled to be held in Fort Pierre and will now not take place. In place of the public meetings along the Missouri River basin will be a public virtual meeting to be held Thursday, October 30th at one pm. Missouri Basin Water Management Division Chief John Remus says the virtual meeting will provide a current update on runoff into the river, reservoir operations and planned operations for the upcoming year to meet the Missouri River’s authorized purposes. Officials did not say if the shutdown were to end if the regularly scheduled meetings would resume as planned.
