PIERRE, (KCCR) — Avera Health has announced it is ending it’s participation as an in-network provider with Aetna Medicare Advantage at the end of the year. Avera is terminating its relationship with Aetna due to denials and reduced reimbursements of necessary services and care for patients. Patients with Aetna Medicare Advantage can select a new plan now during the open enrollment period until December 7th. Avera is also providing assistance for those looking to change with Chapter Medicare, who is providing advisors to help individuals navigate pending changes in coverage. Avera will continue to be an in-network provider for Aetna group employer insurance. Patients can keep their Aetna Medicare Advantage plans for next year but should prepared for possible higher costs from being out-of-network care. Patients with appointments or procedures scheduled for next year should check their 2026 Medicare plan coverage network to make sure an Avera provider or facility is included and contact their insurance company if they have questions on coverages.
