The Pierre Governor football team will be on the road tonight for the final time of the regular season as the Govs take on the Spearfish Spartans with a lot of playoff implications once again.
The Spartans are coming in at 5-2 on the season with wins over Watertown and Douglas in the last two weeks. The Spartans have only lost to Huron 27-25 and Tea 22-14 with the Governors also losing to Huron, but not playing Tea. The Spartans quarterback, Thomas Hughes has thrown for over 700 yards and is the leading rusher with over 500 yards. The Governors are more balanced with Kaleb Lounsbury throwing for over 1500 yards and Carter Merrill running for near 500 yards but four different receivers have over 100 yards receiving for Pierre. Winning on the road has been tough for every 11AA school and with Pierre on the road tonight, the Governors need to make sure they play a solid game to get the win in enemy territory. Steele says you can’t afford to lose any plays…
