PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Rock Valley, Iowa man has pleaded not guilty to charges related to a fatal vehicle/pedestrian crash in Hughes County in last month. With 27 year-old Taylor Reece Hanson seated next to him, Attorney David Siebrasse entered not guilty pleas on Hanson’s behalf to all five charges before Sixth Circuit Judge Christina Klinger. If convicted, Hanson is facing up to 21 years in prison on charges including Manufacture, Distribution or Possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, Ingestion of an Intoxicant other than Alcohol and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A motions hearing is set for October 28th. Siebrasse told Klinger he would address bond for Hanson via email. He remains in custody at the Hughes County Jail. Hanson is facing the drug charges as part of an investigation into the crash that killed 23 year-old Elvera DrivingHawk of Kennebec. Hanson struck DrivingHawk, who was walking along South Dakota Highway 34 approximately 21 miles east of Pierre, with his minivan.
