The Pierre Governor girls soccer team would get a 5-1 win over Mitchell while the Governor boys would fall 1-0 to Sioux Falls Christian in the first round of the Class AA playoffs on Tuesday.
The Governor girls would go down 1-0 about 12 minutes into the game as Mitchell would strike first, but Myah Fravel would tie the game as Natalie Flottmeyer would serve up Fravel’s goal and it would be 1-1. Jasmine Jost would get the go-ahead and eventually winning goal as Flottmeyer again would have a perfect lead pass as Jost scored twice in the second half while Allison Demers and Lexie Hillmer would each score to drive out to the 5-1 lead and get the win for the Governors advancing to the quarterfinals.
The Governors boys would drop a hard fought battle against the Chargers on the road in the 6-11 game as Pierre finished at 6-5-4 as seniors Aiden Bass, Javier Pretell Alegre, Alex Oedekoven, Carter Norton and Lucas Hight finish their careers with the Governors.
The Governors will take on Watertown, who upset Lincoln, on Saturday. Game time is still to be determined but will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Mendel Miller on the call.
