PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of those involved in a fatal vehicle/pedestrian crash last weekend in Hughes County. According to a release from the Department of Public Safety the crash happened Sunday evening around 8:45 pm on South Dakota Highway 34 near mile marker 231, approximately 21 miles east of Pierre and three miles west of DeGray Hill. The preliminary crash investigation shows a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, driven by 27 year-old Taylor Reece Hansen of Rock Valley, Iowa was traveling west on Highway 34 when he struck 23 year-old Elvera Drivinghawk from Kennebec. Drivinghawk was pronounced dead at the scene. Hansen was not injured. A GoFundMe page has been established by relatives to help with memorial expenses.
