Both Pierre Governor soccer teams would get wins over the Sturgis Scoopers on Saturday on the road with a girls 3-2 win and a boys 1-0 victory.
In the girls game, the Natalie Flottmeyer would make it 1-0 before Lexie Hillmer gave the Govs a 2-0 lead. However, Sturgis would come back and tie the game with a PK goal at 2-2 before Flottmeyer’s second goal of the game would be the game winner as the Govs pick up the 10th win of the season and are 10-2-1 heading into the final regular season game on Tuesday at home.
The Governor boys would get a second shutout the season with the 1-0 win as Alex Oedekoven would get the lone strike from Caiden Ahartz to grab a very important win for the Govs as they are now 5-4-4 heading into the final game of the season against winless Huron. Pierre jumps up to 11th in the standings trying to get a more favorable road matchup in the first round of the playoffs.
The Governors will finish the regular season on Tuesday as both the girls and boys are facing winless Huron. The girls will play first at 4:00 with the boys game to follow at the PILC Fields in Pierre.
