The Pierre Governor football team will look to continue the upwards trend hosting the Brookings Bobcats tonight in the homecoming game at Hollister Field in Pierre.
The Govs beat up on Watertown to a 41-19 win last Friday to get to 2-1 on the season as the Bobcats survived winning 14-10 over Aberdeen Central last week to also move to 2-1 on the season. After a scoreless first quarter for the Govs, they put together all but two scoring drives the remainder of the game and the defense allowed just 13 points until a last second touchdown was scored for the Arrows. This week, the Govs face the Bobcats who have first year head coach Carter Gordon now leading the way. While being a new head coach, Gordon is a Brookings graduate and Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors says there are still similarities to last year’s team…
Being Homecoming week, Steele says the guys have been focused and staying sharp while any distraction isn’t really about the week…
Steele says with how the week has gone and the potential field conditions, you have to limit your mistakes…
Coverage tonight begins at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
