PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Reliance man has been sentenced to federal prison time for his role in a large-scale methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 51 year-old Heath Choal was sentenced to seven years in federal prison by U-S District Judge Eric Schulte. Choal will serve three years of supervised release after the prison time. Choal was involved in a drug distribution ring from the start of June in 2023 until September of last year. Choal would obtain the meth from co-defendants Misty and Heather Stahlhofer to distribute in the Pierre area with four others, all of whom have been sentenced in the case. The Stahlhofers along with Choal, Whitney Marrowbone, Wendy Mealer, Brent Larvie and David Rinehart combined are serving at total of 69 years in prison because of the meth ring. Misty Stahlhofer is serving the longest sentence at 21 years followed by Misty at 18, Marrowbone 11 years; Choal seven; Mealer six; Larvie four and Rinehart two. Between 20 to 35 pounds of methamphetamine were involved in the distribution conspiracy.
