The Pierre Governor volleyball team would get a four set win over Sturgis on Friday, but would lose in four sets on Saturday to the Spearfish Spartans at home this weekend.
On Friday, the Governors would pick up the four set win over the Scoopers at 25-23, 25-22, 15-25 and 25-23. It was the second win for the Governors and had won two of three trying to get on the right track as the Govs move into a tough stretch starting with Spearfish the next day as six of the next seven opponents are multiple games over .500 including a couple of undefeated teams currently.
Pierre would fall in four sets to Spearfish with scores of 25-12, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-13. Julia Billington had the match high 14 kills for the Spartans as teammates Adelyn Bouman and Kaitlyn Wheaton each had 11 kills. Ally Keyes would have a team high seven kills for the Governors while Sloane Waldron and Addison Novotny had five.
Pierre drops to 2-5 on the season and will have three games this week starting with a road game on Tuesday traveling to face the Washington Warriors. Coverage will begin at 6:00 with first serve at 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
