Over the past weekend, Oahe Lady Capitals and players from other associations from around the state would come to a camp at the IceBarn as United States Olympian, Gigi Marvin would host the camp.
Marvin, a former Minnesota Golden Gopher and former Olympian having won a gold medal at the Winter Olympics in 2018 in South Korea. She also won gold medals in the 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017 World Championships. Marvin also competed in the Premier Hockey Federation, Canadian Women’s Hockey League and National Women’s Hockey League before finishing her career in the Professional Women’s Hockey League She retired in 2024 and now runs the RinkRat 19 Hockey School, a hockey camp out of her hometown of Warroad, Minnesota. She traveled to Pierre to run the camp over the past weekend. Marvin says she had a blast coming out to Pierre, not just with hockey, but seeing the beauty of the community…

The Oahe Capitals begin its new season in November. Capitals games, both boys and girls varsity games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
