Redshirt Sophomore and Pierre native, Lincoln Kienholz would get his first taste of action on Saturday in Ohio State’s 70-0 win over Grambling, throwing his first touchdown pass of his career.
It’s the longest amount of time on the field for Kienholz who was in a quarterback battle over the spring and fall, just losing out to Julian Sayin. Kienholz went in at the start of the third quarter when Ohio State built a 35-0 lead at the break. Kienholz was able go 6-7 through the air for 71 yards while also running twice for a total of 10 yards. The Buckeyes scored on each drive he quarterbacked. It was fourth down on the four yard line to start the fourth quarter and the Buckeyes would go for it. Kienholz would find Jelani Thurman on a play action pass to complete the touchdown as Thurman had three catches for 44 yards in the win.
Ohio State will get Ohio on Saturday in Columbus. It’s high possibility Kienholz will get into the game again, but he remains the number two QB, being just one play away from taking over the starting duty.
