The Pierre Governor soccer teams would each win on Saturday on the road against the Spearfish Spartans as the boys would win 4-2 while the girls would pick up a 3-1 victory.
In the boys game, four different Governors would score and six different Govs would be on the score sheet. Javier Pretell-Alegre would score an unassisted goal, but Everett Norton would assist on two goals, one scored by Jacoby LaRoche and the other by Aiden Bass. Caiden Ahartz would get another goal from Alex Oedekoven as the Govs pick up its third straight win to now be 4-2-2 before facing both Harrisburg and Brandon Valley this week.
In the girls game, Lexie Hillmer would tie the game with a PK as the game was stalemated at 1-1 at half time. Jasmine Jost would score off a corner kick to give the Govs the lead midway through the second half and just about four minutes later, Devyn Van Roekel would get the ball on her foot after a deflection and would beat the keeper to make it 3-1 and secure another win for the Governors keeping them unbeaten on the season at now 6-0-1. The Governor girls are about to hit a tough stretch with Harrisburg in town on Thursday before traveling to Brandon Valley on Saturday and then hosting Stevens the following Monday in a makeup date. Both Harrisburg and Stevens are the other two unbeaten teams in the state.
The Governors are hosting Harrisburg on Thursday at Hollister Field. The girls will kick off at 4:00 and the boys game will follow.
