A last minute score for the Huron Tigers on a pick six would be the difference in a 13-7 win for the Tigers over the Pierre Governors in Huron on Friday night.
Huron would open the game with an 11 play drive scoring with a seven yard touchdown pass from Anderson Porisch to Mason Jurgens and it was the only scoring of the entire first half. However, Pierre tied the game in the first possession of the third quarter as they would get a one yard touchdown run by Kaleb Lounsbury which took over five and a half minutes off the clock. With limited possessions the whole game and moving quickly, two big interceptions from Ayden Behm would give the Govs the opportunity twice to lead a game winning drive. However, the Govs failed the first drive and then with just over a minute left, an interception from Jeremy Hofer would be returned for a touchdown and the Tigers led 13-7. One final opportunity for the Govs had them down to the 19 yard line, but the final throw was incomplete as time expired and the Tigers would get an upset win over the Governors as both teams are now 1-1 on the season.
Lounsbury would finish 21-33 for 161 yards and an interception as Carter Schiefelbein would make 11 catches and pick up 105 yards receiving. Keya Ducheneaux would run for over 100 yards on 24 carries as the Govs outgained Huron 203 to 50 in the second half, but only scored just the one time.
Pierre will look to bounce back after the loss as they travel to Watertown to face the 0-2 Arrows on Friday. Coverage will begin at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
