Landon Bame would find the end zone four times Friday, but none bigger than with 13 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to help propel the Stanley County Buffaloes to a 36-28 win over Leola/Frederick Area.
In the second of three straight home games, Stanley County needed a win to get in the win column, but build momentum for the second half of the season. The two teams would trade touchdowns throughout the game, but the Buffs were the ones to get the final punch.
Weston Prince and Paxton Deal had multiple chunk plays on third and fourth downs throughout the night including a remarkable catch in the end zone which tied the game at 22-22 at the half. Bame’s ability to power his way into the end zone gave Stanley County the offense they were hoping to get back from the first half of the Hill City game. Bame scored both touchdowns in the second half for the Buffs and then had the game sealing interception as time expired.
Stanley County is now 1-2 on the season while the Titans are also 1-2. The Buffs will host Redfield for Homecoming on Friday. Kickoff from Ole Williamson Field is at 7:00.
