PIERRE, (KCCR) — Air passenger traffic continues to climb, no pun intended, at Pierre Regional Airport. Enplanements have improved the last three months and August is now the best month of the year…
Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga did not have the August 2021 number, but looking back to 2022, August of of 2022 and 2024 both saw 1,169 passengers use Pierre Regional. In 2023, 1,257 passengers flew from Pierre which was 54 or just over one flight less than this year. Huizenga says he did have some concerns over passenger boardings in the crossover to SkyWest from Denver Air Connection…
So far this year, 8,701 passengers have used Pierre Regional Airport. That is up 26 compared to this time last year. Denver Air carried 7,390 passengers before giving up service at the end of July. Since 2022 yearly enplanements have declined starting at 15-thousand 928 in 2022, 15-thousand-596 in 2023 with 14-thousand 711 last year. Enplanements should be boosted in October and November when extra flights will be added to handle pheasant hunting traffic.
