A near 90 minute delay on Friday to christen the new turf and kick off for the first time at the newly improved Ole Williamson Field still had Parkston break out for a 40-0 win over Stanley County.
It took just two minutes and change for the Trojans to score its first score and led 8-0. Stanley County would be stopped on fourth and one at the Parkston 43. After a couple of punts and a goal line stand for the Buffs, a safety was called against Stanley County on a catch and fumble out of the end zone that could have been called possibly been called incomplete but it helped the Trojans lead 18-0 after the first quarter. Another touchdown for Parkston made it 24-0 at the half. Two more scores and converting the two point conversions made it 40-0 in the third and the fourth quarter clocked continued to roll to end the game with the Buffs offense unable to get on the board in the first home game of the season.
Parkston improves to 1-1 on the season with the Buffs falling to 0-2. Stanley County will continue its three game home stretch facing Leola/Frederick Area on Friday. The Titans are 1-1 after a 36-6 loss to Britton-Hecla. Kickoff from Ole Williamson Field is at 7:00.
