
PIERRE, (KCCR) — One person was killed and three others injured Wednesday on U-S Highway 14 in Hand County. Four vehicles were involved in the crash with three of those being motorcycles. According to the preliminary crash investigation released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the motorcycles were traveling west on Highway 14 near 346th Avenue, six miles east of Highmore, when the driver of a 2008 Chevy K-15-hundred crossed the center line, traveling into the wrong lane. The first motorcycle, driven by a 78 year-old man from Redfield avoided the pickup. The second motorcycle, driven by a 77 year-old female from Redfield struck the pick-up head on, killing the woman. The third motorcycle missed the pick-up by driving into the ditch where the 70 year-old woman driver from Tulare was thrown from the motorcycle. The first motorcycle driver was not injured while the third suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pick-up, a 45 year-old Huron man sustained minor injuries. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family.
