PIERRE, (KCCR) — Two men from Fort Thompson have been sentenced to federal prison time for their roles in a shooting. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 18 year-old Trevin Witt was sentenced to 11 years in prison on a charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Using a Firearm During a Crime of Violence. Witt will serve three years of supervised release after the prison term. Twenty-one year-old Lawrence Taylor was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Taylor will also serve three years of supervised release. Ramsdell says Witt and Taylor forcibly entered a home on the Crow Creek Indian Reservation in April of 2024 and held a gun to the head of a resident wanting to know where the eventual victim was. As the victim came up from the basement, Witt shot victim, who survived the injuries. Witt was sentenced back in March. Taylor was sentenced last week.
