For the second straight season, the Stanley County Buffaloes will start the football season with the Hill City Rangers, this time it will be the long haul for the Buffs to head to Hill City.
Last year, Stanley County was blitzed and plagued with numerous injuries in the first quarter as the Rangers won 48-6 to open the season. The Buffs finished at 2-6 and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Parkston battling through a lot of injuries which can pay dividends this year with those who were thrown into action for the first time last year because of an injury. Just six seniors graduated from last year’s team which now will lead the Buffs into plenty of experience to start the season and with the new turf, a faster approach to the game and practice. Max Foth, head coach of the Stanley County Buffaloes says there’s a lot of excitement heading into the season…
Hill City, though, still won’t be a slouch as they went 7-1 last season before losing in the quarterfinals of the 9AA playoffs to Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy. Only five seniors graduated from last year’s Ranger squad and now into their second year of nine man football again, they want more success. Foth says they won’t be as surprised by them this year when they played their first nine man game in a decade…
Foth says the Buffs need to play with confidence tonight…
Kickoff from Hill City is scheduled for 7:00 Central Time tonight.
