PIERRE, (KCCR) — An Eagle Butte man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison on a charge of Abusive Sexual Contact with a Minor. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 55 year-old Dion Brown was indicted on the charge back in October of 2023. He pleaded guilty in April. Ramsdell says Brown engaged in a sexual relationship with the victim from Eagle Butte between May of 2020 and October of 2022. During that time period Brown was in his lower 50s while the victim was in their mid-teens. After Brown is released, he will have to serve five years of supervised release. He was ordered to pay a 100-dollar assessment to the Federal Crime Victim Fund and will have to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Brown was placed in the custody of the U-S Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
