PIERRE, (KCCR) — State computer systems appear to be back on line after an outage that started Tuesday. Around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon state websites were accessible again. Officials with the Bureau of Information and Technology have confirmed the outage is connected to a hardware failure caused by a power outage located at the state’s data center. The incident wasn’t connected to any Cybersecurity threat or event. The outage had impacted the state radio system, phone systems and internet access. The outage forced the South Dakota Supreme Court to issue a Judicial Emergency, suspending deadlines, time schedules, due dates and filing requirements. The outage also prompted Stanley County to close it’s courthouse to services Wednesday. While most systems are coming back on line, BIT says full restoration was still ongoing Wednesday afternoon and as hosting systems were brought back online, more applications would become accessible.
