PIERRE, (KCCR) — December will mark one year since a naloxone distribution box was installed at Capital Area Counseling Service in Pierre with help from the Emily’s Hope organization. C-A-C-S has funded the box and it’s supplies including refill kits. Emily’s Hope founder Angela Kennecke says one goal of the boxes is to end the stigma around what is commonly referred to as Narcan…
Prevention Services Coordinator Jana Boocock with C-A-C-S says they hope the box sends a message that substance use and mental health challenges are a part of life and that no one should feel ashamed to seek help. Emily’s Hope has aided in distributing over 13-thousand, 800 doses of naloxone across South Dakota.
