Both South Dakota teams finished inside the top six of the Central Plains Regional in Fargo, North Dakota as Yankton would fall on Friday and then Harrisburg Saturday afternoon.
West Fargo would beat Yankton 7-4 on Friday to finish out Post 12’s season as they finish 30-14 overall on the summer. West Fargo jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first but Yankton would make it 3-2 in the top of the third as Matthew Sheldon and Easton Feser would each drive in a run. But it was Jett Collins going 3-4 with three RBIs along with Landon Zink going 3-3 with two doubles and a triple scoring three runs to help the Patriots survive for another day.
Harrisburg would hit three home runs on Friday over the host Fargo Post 400 in a 9-6 win. Michael Oakland would get it started with a solo homer in the first. Eli Kokenge hit a solo shot in the top of the sixth to make it 7-2 and then Tate Munce had a two run shot in the top of the seventh to finish out the win and survive into Saturday. However, they would run into the Lincoln, Nebraska team who had beaten them earlier in the tournament 6-0. Lincoln, at 3-0 had allowed just six runs in those three games, all to Shakopee, Minnesota in a 16-6 win. Lincoln would pick up their third shutout of the tournament getting to the Regional championship with a 2-0 win. Harrisburg finishes the season at 23-22.
After West Fargo, eliminated Shakopee 4-2, Lincoln would win the championship on Sunday with a 6-3 win to go undefeated at the Central Plains Regional and advance to the World Series where they will play Rockport, Illinois in the first game of the tournament on Thursday at 9:00 AM Central time.
