The Four Corners Amateur baseball team is on to the second round of the Class B State Amateur baseball tournament with an 8-4 win over Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing on Saturday in Brandon.
Jack Van Camp would get a four run first inning for early run support as he went for a complete game giving up four runs, one earned, on five hits with five walks and had 12 strikeouts. Garrett Stout, Sam Hand, Matt Lusk and River Iverson each had an RBI in the first inning as Iverson and Lusk each had three hits and Lusk would drive in a total of three runs. Hand also had two RBIs as 4C had a 5-3 lead after three and added the final three runs in the top of the sixth. The defense will need to be sharper heading into Tuesday’s second round game as Four Corners finished with five errors, but Van Camp was able to work around them giving up just those four runs in nine innings.
Four Corners will next face the Platte Killer Tomatoes on Tuesday at 7:30 in the second round. If Four Corners wins they will then play on Friday in the quarterfinals with the semifinals on Saturday and championship on Sunday.
