After both South Dakota teams would lose on Wednesday, both would get wins in elimination games on Thursday to remain alive in the Central Plains Regionals in Fargo.
Harrisburg would start the day with a 9-4 win over Grand Rapids, Minnesota as they would hit five doubles of the 12 hits in total. Noah Boschee would have the best day in the lineup going 3-4 and four RBIs as he doubled twice. Grand Rapids would score three runs in the second and take a 4-3 lead, but Kade Wede, Eli Kokenge and Rylan Boe would combine to shut the door in the final five innings of work. Grand Rapids had three errors in the game with four of the nine runs being unearned against the pitching staff as Grand Rapids goes 0-2.
Yankton would beat Elkhorn, Nebraska 7-2 as Matthew Sheldon went 4-4 with a double and an RBI. Owen Wishon doubled home two runs and Gavin Johnson had an RBI in a three run first for Post 12. Yankton had another two RBIs coming coming from Tate Beste. Mark Kathol threw four and 2/3 innings allowing just two runs on four hits with three strike outs while Beste allowed just one hit and hit one batter in the final two and 1/3 innings. Elkhorn also finishes at 0-2 as South Dakota and North Dakota will remain with two teams in the tournament heading into Friday.
Yankton will place first on Friday at 11:00 AM against West Fargo, North Dakota who lost 10-0 to Lincoln, Nebraska. Harrisburg will play at 3:30 against the host Fargo, North Dakota who dropped a 15-0 game to Shakopee, Minnesota.
