The Oahe Zap would not be able to make the comeback against the Spearfish Sasquatch losing 5-3 Wednesday night in Pierre as the Sasquatch take a 2-0 series lead heading to Spearfish.
The Zap will have to reverse fortune starting Friday as they will travel to Spearfish to face the Sasquatch in the Independence League Championship Series. Oahe trailed 4-0 after six innings before getting two back in the seventh as Quinn Ludvigsen had the RBI. But Spearfish would get a run in the top of the ninth to extend the lead back to three and with the bases loaded and two outs, Connor Hammonds would get an infield base hit to make it 5-3, but Gavin Fraser would strikeout on a full count pitch as Spearfish is just one win away from claiming the Independence League title. Oahe will need to win all three games this weekend on the road to comeback and take the series.
The two teams will have on off day on Thursday and the series resumes with game three at 7:05 Central Time in Spearfish with games four and five also at 7:05, but both are if necessary heading into the weekend.
