The Spearfish Sasquatch would get 10 of its 14 runs in the final three innings to win 14-7 over the Oahe Zap in the first game of the 2025 Independence League Championship series.
Oahe would jump out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second as Andrew Phillips would single home two runs with two outs and then added four runs as Vince Pollizi would double home another two runs as Quinn Ludvigsen and Tyler Hoffman would get RBIs to make it a 6-3 lead after three. But it would be the bats of the Sasquatch scoring three runs in the seventh to take a 7-6 lead and then adding another two runs in the eighth and five runs in the ninth to seal an opening game win of the series. Jack Daily also doubled for the Zap in the loss.
The best of five series remains in Pierre for game two Wednesday night at Hyde Stadium. First pitch is at 7:05. Game three will be Friday night in Spearfish with games four and five, if necessary, will remain in Spearfish.
