For the first time since 2022, Pierre Post 8 is back at the Senior Legion State Tournament as the Eights will open up the tournament against the host team, Watertown in the final game of the night.
Heading into the state tournament Pierre has beaten four of the other seven teams in the field while having not played Yankton, are 0-1 against Post 22 and the only team to beat them twice is Harrisburg. Pierre split its two games against Watertown beating Post 17 6-5 in a walk off win while also dropping a 9-4 decision. Pierre comes into today at 18-14 in games played and finished the regular season at 11-10 in South Dakota games played but 15-10 overall. Pierre moved up from the seventh seed to number six after Sioux Falls East was swept by Rapid City Post 320. River Iverson, head coach of Post 8 says it’s awesome to be back in the state tournament…
Looking at the overall tournament, Iverson feels like they can compete with anybody, but it’s one game at a time…
Iverson expects a good game between Pierre and Watertown to close out the night tonight…
Coverage tonight begins at 6:45 with first pitch at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports. KCCR will not have video rights for the tournament but will still be streaming on YouTube with a still image. Dylan Simmons will have the call. You can see a full bracket below.
