Pierre Post 8 15/16s team would go 4-0 through Friday and Saturday, but would come up short in the semifinals at the 16U State Tournament in Yankton on Sunday.
Pierre opened up the tournament 2-0 on Friday beating Renner 12-5 as Landry Van Roekel led the way with three RBIs while Jerren Deal and Alec Eilers each had two RBIs each. Then shutout Brandon Valley in five innings as Eilers added on to his RBI total driving in a game high three runs for Post 8. Ryker Edson had to RBIs and Brennan McCullough had a three hit five inning shutout.
Saturday continued the same way for Pierre as they beat Huron in the first game of bracket play, 9-6 after leading 7-0 after the first inning. Eilers drove in another two runs while Johnathon Neuharth also drove in two runs. Pierre beat Tea then in the quarterfinals Saturday evening winning 3-1 as Post 8 would again have another two RBIs from Eilers doubling home two runs while Ayden Johnson had the other RBI. Carter Templeton would get the win on the mound allowing just one hit through four and one third innings with Ashton Johnson picking up the eight out save completing the one hitter between the two.
Pierre, though, ran into the top seed of the tournament, Mitchell and would fall in the semifinals 6-0 ending the tournament at 4-1. Van Roekel and Johnson had the only hits in the loss for Pierre. Eilers would finish with nine RBIs in the tournament for the Eights. Yankton would beat Mitchell 4-3 in 11 innings to win the 16U championship.
