The Pierre Post 8 14U team is another Post 8 team this summer to head to into the state tournament as a top contending team as the Eights will be in Aberdeen this weekend.
A total of nine players on this year’s team will be looking for a second straight state championship after winning the title as the 13U team last year. A mixture of new faces have made this team a top team in the state once again. Pierre finished the regular season at 28-4 and have won 19 of the last 20 which included a 15 game winning streak. Just like the 13U tournament, this tournament will be divided into three pools of four teams with six teams making now bracket play and only the top two teams will only have to win two games on now Monday to win the title, the other four will have to win three. Pierre will be in a pool with Mitchell, Sioux Falls and Yankton. Pierre went 5-0 against Mitchell this summer but have not seen either Sioux Falls or Yankton heading into the tournament. Jim Iverson, the head coach of the 14U team says they have to play well in pool play to get the shot at the state title…
Iverson says this team does everything well…
Iverson says they need to be fundamental throughout the weekend to give this team the best chance…
Iverson returned back to coaching this year with this 14U team and was emotional about how much fun the year has been especially with this team…

Pierre will face Sioux Falls at 2:30 on Friday at Fossum Field before taking on Yankton at 8:00 AM on Saturday and Mitchell at 10:15 AM on Sunday all in Aberdeen. Because of the rain in Aberdeen there will be only one game played each day with Monday being the bracket play.
