
FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Starting Thursday, crews will start milling and repaving South Dakota Highway 1806 from it’s junction with Highways 14 and 34 in Fort Pierre to the west end of the Oahe Dam at South Dakota Highway 204, which crosses the Dam. Highway 1806 will get a new asphalt surface for 30 miles, going north toward Mission Ridge. During the work, traffic will be down to a single lane with the use of flaggers and pilot cars to take motorists safely through the construction zones. Delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected. There will be no width restrictions during the project. Traffic should be prepared for sections of roughened surfaces, fresh oil and a center line drop-off during th work. Drivers are asked to slow down in work zones or use alternate routes to detour the construction. The estimated cost of the project is 11-point-six million dollar project is expected to be complete by late September with an overall project completion by November.
