Pierre Post 8 will have four teams over the weekend competing in state tournaments as the oldest team of the four, the 15/16 will be in Yankton.
The 15/16 Eights team is 17-13 on the season, right around the .500 mark in the month of July. The tournament format is setup for each team to play two games on Friday and the bottom three teams then playing two games on Saturday in the consolation bracket. The remaining 12 teams will be put into the championship bracket with seeds 8-12 having to win two games on Saturday to reach the semifinals. Sunday will be the semifinals and championships. There are now pools, so going at least 1-1 will ensure you don’t go into the consolation games on Saturday.
Pierre opens the tournament against Renner at 12:00 on Friday at Prentis Park before facing Brandon Valley at 2:30. Pierre faced Renner on a Sunday morning at the end of a tournament, winning 13-1. Pierre also split its doubleheader on the road against Brandon Valley winning 8-2 and losing 1-0.
