PIERRE, (KCR) — No one was injured but a building in the 300 block of East Capitol Avenue received structural damage when a vehicle struck the building. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers responded to the scene around 8:15 am Tuesday. Pelle says officers determined a 55 year-old female from Pierre was driving a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer at the time of the crash. The woman was attempting to back out of a parking space when the vehicle drove forward and into a window on the front of the building to the right of the front door. The crash is being investigated as a private property traffic crash. The building, one half block west of the South Dakota State Capitol, is home to the Tieszen Law Office and Associated School Boards of South Dakota along with other clients. Midwest Construction was on scene Tuesday morning checking the structural integrity of the building.
