Post 8 would split their doubleheader with the Bismarck Governors on Tuesday night in their final home games of the regular season, and would do so in dramatic fashion losing game one 8-5, but winning the second game 15-11.
In game one, Post 8 and Bismarck would both be held scoreless in the early going with Parker O’ Bryan especially setting into a rhythm early for the Eights. In the third though, Bismarck would open things up with a two run homer courtesy of Joey Kraljic to give Bismarck a 2-0. Post 8 would get RBIs from Grayson Hunsley and Sutton Sonnenschein to close the gap, but Bismarck added on with consistent hitting against O’Bryan to give themselves a 4-2 lead after four. From there, the Govs would take over in the sixth with an inside-the-park grand slam in the top frame to go up 8-2. Despite a late rally from Post 8, they would ultimately 8-5 in game one.
That feeling would be changed quickly in game two as Post 8 managed to get things rolling with a 5-0 lead after just two innings of play. However, Bismarck’s tenacity was on full display throughout the middle part of the game scoring 10 unanswered runs and have a 10-5 lead going into the bottom of the fifth. A pitching change to Sutton Sonnenschein and a two run single by Hudson Stoeser began Post 8’s comeback and in the sixth the Eights scored eight runs being scored in the inning, including a two run shot from Sutton Sonnenschein to put Post 8 on top 15-10. From there, Post 8 would take care of business in the top of the seventh for a 15-11 win in a wild second game.
