The Oahe Zap and Hasting Sodbusters would play two games on Thursday as Hastings would take game one 11-4 and the Zap would return the favor winning game two 10-4.
In game one, Hastings jumped out to a 4-0 lead and had an 8-0 lead after the top of the fourth when Oahe would finally get on the board. A four run first and fourth innings would doom the Zap before they could get the offense going. Andrew Phillips drove in two runs while Gavin Fraser and Aidan Johnson each had an RBI in the loss. Johnson hit a solo homer in the fourth to get the Zap on the board.
Roles were reversed in game two as the Zap would be the team scoring double digits as they led 8-2 after three innings of play. Even without recording an extra base hit, the Zap got timely hits, especially in the first three innings as Jake Daily had two RBIs in the win while Kaden Bazansky also drove in two. Daily, Jared Pugrad and Nick Golden each had two hits as AJ Ponciano gave up four runs, two earned on four hits with two walks and a strikeout over five innings to earn the win. Both games were seven inning contests because of the doubleheader.
The loss in game one stopped the Zap’s five game winning streak, but Oahe is still just one game under .500 at 18-19 and have won 13 of the last 16. The Zap will now host the Casper Spuds in a four game series starting tonight. First pitch is at 6:05 this evening, after Post 8’s doubleheader which starts at 11:00. Saturday’s game will also start at 6:05 and Sunday’s game is at 2:30 first pitch.
