After finishing 3-1 in games last week, Pierre Post 8 will be back home tonight in just its third home doubleheader of the season as the Eights host Rapid City Post 320.
Over the last two weeks Pierre will play 10 games with six of the 10 being at home including this doubleheader and Friday afternoon’s doubleheader hosting Watertown. It’s the second time the Eights and the Stars will meet this summer, but the first time with seed points on the line. Pierre beat Post 320 10-6 in eight innings to close the Veterans Classic a month ago. Because it was after the round robin was done, it did not count toward the standings. Pierre is 7-5 since the win and are currently 11-8 in South Dakota standings, just one spot ahead of Post 320 in tenth place. The Stars are 12-11 in South Dakota games and 24-22 in total. Post 320 split a doubleheader with Spearfish on Monday losing game one 4-3 and winning game two 16-6. Dawson Getz had three RBIs in the win back on June 8 while JJ Bucholz and Ridge Leimbach each had two RBIs. Porter Hunsley grabbed the win in his best outing going four innings in relief without allowing a run on just one hit and got out of the bottom of the seventh bases loaded jam with nobody out striking out the side.
Coverage of the doubleheader begins at 2:45 with first pitch at 3:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Dylan Simmons on the call.
