One of the best track and field seasons in school history, the Pierre Governor girls team had four state championships and numerous school records to boast at the end of the year.
The Governors would get individual state championships from Charlie Williams-Smith getting the gold medal in the 400 and Kali Ringstmeyer claiming the 100 and 200 meter championships while setting the meet record in the 100. Williams-Smith and Ringstmeyer teamed up with Lennix DuPris and Emlyn Swanson to win the 4×200 relay setting the fastest time ever in South Dakota for the girls. That was how they capped off the season. It was a lot of hard work and a lot rewards during the season as well. Multiple school records were broken on top of being rebroken as the season continued. The 4×200 team broke the record on Friday in the prelims and Larson says it was amazing to watch the girls get even faster on Saturday…

While the Governors will lose a some key pieces, a lot of what was done this season were by girls who will return for next year…
