The final score doesn’t indicate how close the game was on Wednesday night as the Oahe Zap fell 11-3 to the Spearfish Sasquatch after a big seventh inning extended the lead.
Four singles in the first inning led Spearfish to three runs and a 3-0 lead before adding on another run through a single in the third to have a 4-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth. Vince Pollizi drove in two runs in the bottom of the sixth and then a wild pitch scored Ty Farwell to make it 4-3 heading into the seventh. But the wheels fell off for the Zap. The inning was highlighted by a Sam Kwapnioski grand slam to make it 9-3 and the Sasquatch added still another two runs to score seven times in the seventh to go up 11-3. The inning took the wind out of the sales for Oahe and the Zap were retired in order in the final three innings. Kwapnioski finished 3-5 with six RBIs in the win for Spearfish.
The Zap drop to now 5-9 on the season and will finish off the three game set with the Sasquatch tonight. First pitch is at 6:05.
