Pierre Post 8 would draw Rapid City Post 320 in the final game of the Veterans Classic on Sunday and it would take extras to get the 10-6 win over the Stars finishing the weekend at 3-2.
Pierre would score five runs in the first inning as Dawson Getz, Grayson Hunsley and JJ Bucholz would each get an RBI before Ridge Leimbach had a two RBI triple to make it a 5-0 game. Post 320 would answer with a run in the first and after Bucholz drove in his second run of the game to make it 6-1 in the third, Post 320 scored five runs in inning to tie the game at 6-6 which stood all the way into the bottom of the seventh. Porter Hunsley, in relief of starter Will Danburg who went four innings, had the bases loaded with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh and struck out the side to keep the game tied and send it into extra innings. Hudson Stoeser would be hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Eights the 7-6 lead before Dawson Getz had a two RBI single and Charlie Simpson’s sacrifice fly made it 10-6 as Hunsley retired the side in order to win the game and finish the Veterans Classic at 3-2.
Pierre is now 4-5 on the season and will play again on Thursday on the road against Spearfish. The doubleheader will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
