The State Track and Field Meet is heating up into the second day as teams will compete again on Friday and Saturday to wrap up the 2025 track and field season.
Pierre
The Governors would get three top ten finishes on Thursday as the team of Carson Stoeser, Carter Schiefelbein, Eladio Simental and Caleb Morris would place second at the sprint medley relay race, the highest finish of the day for Pierre. Emlyn Swanson, Josephine Wurtz, Lennix DuPris and Emery Larson would get seventh in the sprint medley relay race on the girls side. Colter Babcock would place eighth in the javelin and the team of Larson, Gwen Richter, Mason Berg and Devyn Van Roekel would get ninth in the 4×800 relay race.
Sully Buttes
Payge Bakker would finish up her discuss throw getting 14th place for the Sully Buttes Chargers.
Stanley County
For the Stanley County Buffaloes, two men’s team finished the finals as the 4×800 team of Ryland Magee, Justin Trebbe, Eddie Duffy and Spencer Sargent would get 22nd while the sprint medley relay team of Paxton Deal, Landon Bame, Brendon Bothwell and Sargent would finish in 15th place.
Potter County
Potter County’s Sprint Medley Relay Race would get tenth from Rayel Persoon, Taylyn Rausch, Finlee Heien and Emma Schlachter.
Lyman
For the Lyman Raiders Desmerius McGhee would get 23rd in the discus and the sprint medley relay team would place 19th with the team consisting of Claire Griffith, Ella Ehlers, Jordyn Scott and Kenzie Wagner.
Jones County
The Jones County Coyotes had a top five finish on day one. Thad Kierl, Asa Best, Bryer Kinsley and Adrik Schoon would get fourth in the Class B sprint medley relay race. BreAna Aske was 18th in the long jump for the Coyotes.
Highmore-Harrold
The Highmore-Harrold Pirates had one finals competition on Thursday as Tenley McDonnel, Emma Salathe, Whitley Baloun and Autumn Fallis would get 11th in the sprint medley relay race.
The field events begin today at 9:00 AM with the track events at 9:30 at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. You can see updated scores and finishes below.
